TROUT IN THE CLASSROOM -
Three-hundred fifty trout eggs were delivered to Brookside School in October, and 6th grade students in Ms. Kitty Barnett’s class will take care of them over the course of the school year with the hope that some will survive. Students will learn about healthy watershed as they care for the eggs, and in the spring, they will release those that have survived into a designated trout stream. The project, called Trout in the Classroom ,is a joint effort between the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and Trout Unlimited. This is Allendale’s third year participating in the project, and it is possible due to a grant from the Allendale Foundation for Educational Excellence.
